Conferences are about two things: learning and doing business. At many conferences, however the learning component is pretty amorphous. You take notes or gather slides from sessions, and get inspired by keynote speakers, but what you want is something you can take home, put up on the wall and brag about to your boss.
Enter the IoT Certification Series, a brand new educational conference, happening on the first day of IoT Evolution Expo, August 17.
The IoT Certification Series will begin with a high-level discussion of the technologies relevant to IoT, including devices and sensors, IoT sensor networks and gateways, and both small and large-scale M2M networking capabilities. Once you have an understanding of the tools at play, we’ll give you a sense of the practical applications for consumer and business/industrial markets.
One of the things I’m most excited about is the discussion of realistic market potential. We hear lots of different prognosticators predicting trillions in revenue, billion of devices and very little to defend the positions. We will look at realistic numbers, and how the industry will get there, based on today’s deployments. Hard facts, not imagination and hope, are what’s on the docket here.
Of course, we’ll delve into the “things” part of the business: sensors, wearables, constrained devices, and MEMS. Each has a role in tying the IoT together, and we’ll explore how that happens.
We’ll also get into connectivity and sensor networking topologies, including 3G/4G, 5G and Mesh. We’ll also give you an idea of what’s on offer from the big networking players at Allseen, Apple, Google, OIC, ZigB and others.
There’s a lot to cover, and this is a survey course, but it’s valuable stuff, so take a look, get registered and bring home the bragging rights that you’ve got the certification.
